China's largest angelica root (danggui) trade market is in Minxian county, Northwest China's Gansu province. Its average annual trading volume of Chinese medicinal materials reached 250,000 tons, with a total trading volume of 8 billion yuan ($1.17 billion).
As one of the eight counties in the province that has not yet been lifted out of poverty, Minxian's battle against poverty is ongoing. The supporting role of the Chinese medicinal materials industry in boosting poverty alleviation in the county is becoming increasingly significant.
