China reaffirms commitment to South-South cooperation
China has always stood with the Global South through thick and thin, and has always been a participant of and leading contributor to South-South cooperation, said Lou Qinjian, spokesman for the third session of the 14th National People's Congress.
The development of the Global South remains a priority for cooperation under the Global Development Initiative, Lou said, adding that China has provided development assistance to over 160 countries and cooperated with more than 150 countries and 30 international organizations under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Additionally, China launched the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund and announced zero-tariff treatment for 100 percent tariff lines for more than 40 least developed countries.
Lou stated that the NPC is ready to work with the legislatures of other Global South countries to enhance traditional friendships and engage in closer exchanges and cooperation.
