Search for missing boy ends in tragedy
An 8-year-old boy who had been reported missing was found dead on Wednesday afternoon by a rescue team in Dali city, part of the Dali Bai autonomous prefecture in Yunnan province.
According to a statement released by the search and rescue working group on Wednesday night, authorities immediately activated emergency response measures after hearing about the child's disappearance.
Police, fire and rescue teams, forest firefighters, emergency responders, forest patrol, the forestry and grassland administration, Dali Blue Sky Rescue Team and Dali mountain rescue team were all mobilized, as well as local residents and volunteers, conducting an intensive search operation.
At 5 pm on Tuesday, rescue personnel located the boy's body in a mountain stream. On-site inspection and preliminary investigation ruled out death by external injury, with no signs of criminal involvement suspected at this stage, it was reported.
Local authorities expressed profound grief over the tragic incident and extended their deepest condolences to the family. They also thanked the public for their concern and support throughout the search efforts.
Follow-up procedures are underway.
The boy went missing on Saturday near a tea factory in the city's Dali town, according to a notice released by the city's publicity department on Sunday.
