China-built jet C919 carries out over 2 million passenger trips
More than 2.1 million passenger trips have been completed by China's self-developed jet C919, operated by China Eastern Airlines, as of September 19, marking a new record in the history of the homegrown aircraft, according to the Shanghai-based carrier.
As the first global customer of the C919, China Eastern's fleet has conducted more than 15,200 commercial flights, completed over 37,200 hours of safe and efficient operation, and transported more than 2.1 million passengers, with an average seat occupancy rate above 85 percent.
Since its maiden commercial flight on May 28, 2023, China Eastern's C919 fleet has been operating 14 commercial routes connecting 12 Chinese cities, namely Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, Chengdu in Sichuan province, Xi'an in Shaanxi province, Guangzhou in Guangdong province, Taiyuan in Shanxi province, Wuhan in Hubei province, Shenyang in Liaoning province, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong.
China Eastern has purchased a total of 105 C919 aircraft from the jet's manufacturer, Commercial Aircraft Corp of China, and currently operates a fleet of 11 C919s.
