World Cities Day China Observance opens in Chongqing
Approximately 1,200 participants attended, including representatives from the United Nations, foreign embassies in China, and consulates in Chengdu and Chongqing, along with officials, experts, scholars, and business leaders from various international and domestic sectors.
The opening ceremony unveiled multiple initiatives centered around city planning, particularly the 2025 edition of the Shanghai Manual: A Guide for Sustainable Urban Development in the 21st Century. This year's manual features practical case studies from eight Chinese cities. The case of the Chongqing: Bayu Zhishui system for sustainable water management showcases the integration of digital technology into ecological management using an intelligent water environment sensing network.
