Protest against WTO meeting continues in Montreal
( 2003-07-30 09:38) (xinhua)

Several hundred protesters came back Tuesday to the streets in Canada's second largest city of Montreal, hoping to disrupt a World Trade Organization meeting.

Demonstrators were prepared to face the consequences of police action, a protester told this reporter.

"he message today that we're sending out on the street is that our presence alone is a disruption."

Riot police watched as protesters made their way through the streets near the Sheraton Center in downtown Montreal, where trade ministers from about 25 countries were discussing various international trade issues at a three-day meeting on July 28-30. According to police sources, some of the protesters arrested Monday were fined CND$200 (about US$150) and others were kept behind bars.
