Traffic in the southern island province of Hainan resumed full normal operation on Tuesday as typhoon Krovanh, which hit the province early Monday morning, left the region.

The shipping line across the Qiongzhou Strait between the Chinese mainland and the island province restarted at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Shipping was suspended on Sunday due to the destructive typhoon speeding 38 meters per second as it hit.

Haikou Meilan Airport, linking Hainan and the mainland, restored air traffic services on Monday afternoon. The first flight landed at Meilan Airport at 2:10 p.m. on Monday, according to airport authorities.

Because of typhoon preparations done by transport authorities, Krovanh did not affect many tourists on the tropical island, a popular tourism destination all year round.

Typhoon Krovanh, which is named after a Cambodian tree, is the 12th to hit China this year.
