Kuomintang's newly elected chairperson Cheng Li-wun has vowed to turn the party from a "flock of sheep" into a "pride of lions" in her inauguration speech. Former KMT leader Ma Ying-jeou was even moved to tears during the event.
Her remarks are widely seen as setting a positive tone for cross-Strait relations, at a time when tensions are escalating under DPP leader Lai Ching-te.
Cheng's victory signals a new direction for the KMT: a return to reason, peace, and the political courage needed to resist separatism and safeguard stability across the Strait.
